.....with the Messerschmitt Me 262.

The Messerschmitt Me 262 "Schwalbe" is a first world's multi-ole fighter/bomber/reconnaissance/interceptor turbo jet fighter warplane for the German Luftwaffe. The Messerschmitt Me 262 it had the first test flights began on 18 April 1941. First Messerschmitt Me 262 major version was the Me 262A-1a Schwalbe (Swallow) interceptor, armed with four 30mm MK 108 cannon mounted in the nose. It was powered by two 8.825kN Junkers Jumo 109-004B-1 eight-stage axial-flow turbo-jets. The other major version was the Me 262A-2a Sturmvogel (Stormbird) bomber. Messerschmitt Me 262 it had the first regular combat (8/ZG26) in the September 1944. Me 262 fighter units were thus able, for the first time, to deliver large scale attacks on Allied bomber formations. The Messerschmitt Me 262 "Schwalbe" top ace was probably Hauptmann Franz Schall with 17 kills.
